well isn't this a great start
the name of this, as I typed it in is Crochet A Mile In My SHOES. Apparently this website does not like shoes and has renamed it SHOWS. Damnation. this does not bode well for this. I have a goal to crochet a mile (not like I haven't many times over in my life, but this time I am paying attention) in a 6" wide strip. I am crocheting strips approximately 6' long so that they can be joined into blankets for shelters. I was doing some yarnbombing, and as much as I love the idea, I am also kind of disturbed by my contributions, feeling that they would be better if someone could actually make use of my work. so...... I figure that it will take 880 of the strips to make a mile, I will number them at some point. Now I have finished maybe 8, so I am a long way from there, and I have no immediate time frame. Just crochet as I can. In the meantime, I just finished a scarf for the homeless guy at the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Rockville Pike. He sees me crochet at that light (it is a long one) and asked for a a redskins scarf as he is a big fan. Once the fringe it on, it will be done. and I am well into the star shaped camo blanket that is a kind of prototype. I envision it being used by a kid in bed, knees pulled up so that the green camo forms a mountain, the beige the shore and the blue the water. Army med or some such can fight up the hill, or take a cruise or picnic on the beach. There was a poem in my children's book of poetry about a little boy playing on the counterpane and that inspired this. I have finally found a pattern that works for it, not too may holes. It was in some crochet magazine that just came. It's downstairs, so I will give credit later.
